1 Survey of Demand for Creative workspaces in Hastings
Claremont is surveying the need for creative work spaces in Hastings.
In order to do this they need information on how much demand there is. They are therefore compiling a list of community groups, artists and creative practitioners who are looking for studios or work spaces. This information will be a vital part of realizing a development plan so they would really appreciate your feedback. 2 SoCo Group - workshop

3 Arts Forum – exhibitions and opportunities
Exhibition of work by Cheryl Grindle and Simon Smith intriguingly titled ‘DoDo’s can Dance’ at the Arts forum, 36 Marina, St Leonard’s on sea. A speechless flight through two imaginations leads a masterful dance. Exhibition runs until Thursday 16 August. Exhibition of work by Nigel Plumb, Hastings based painter and printmaker starts on 17 August with a Private View on Saturday 18 12-2pm. Exhibition runs until 23 August. The Arts forum is looking for volunteers in August and September. They are also looking for artists to display work in their browsers. 4 The Stables Theatre Gallery –opportunity for artists
The Stables Theatre Gallery, Hastings Old Town are currently looking for Artists to exhibit in 2008. They will launch 2008 with a show dedicated to drawing. They also want painters, printmakers, crafts & jewellery and are especially interested in Textile artists. 5 Hastings Museum and Art Gallery - reminder
On the 28 July the Museum in Cambridge Road re-opened after a £1 million refurbishment programme. The refit included a much improved entrance and shop, lifts, new displays on ‘Mods and Rockers’ a dedicated room for John Logie Baird to support the ‘Birthplace of Television’ and a new display of Grey Owl, Hastings famous eccentric.

An exhibition of Prints by Gary Hume artist ‘Angels, Flowers & Icons’ opened on 28 July. Open daily 10.00am - 5.00pm. Sunday 11.00am - 5.00pm. In conjunction with the White Cube Gallery and Paragon Press, this exhibition is the most up-to-date collective display of prints by British artist Gary Hume. Gary Hume. RA, initially received acclaim internationally in both Europe and America in the 1990s through his minimal and iconic paintings based on various facets of modern culture. 6 Artist Resource Manager – Brighton Job opportunity

Deadline for applications: Tuesday 4th September From September 2007, the Artist Resource at Fabrica gallery in central Brighton will require an Artist Resource Manager to oversee the Artist Resource library and volunteers, and co-ordinate its programme of events and workshops. A knowledge of contemporary visual art and artist’s concerns about their practice is essential; as are excellent administrative, archiving and IT skills; customer care skills; time and people management skills. 8 Art of the stitch – exhibiting opportunity
‘Art of the stitch’ is a major international open biennial exhibition presented by the Embroiderers' Guild, in association with Coats Crafts. It aims to represent the role of stitch in contemporary artistic practice. The exhibition will tour during 2008/9 and awards include a first prize of £4,000. The exhibition is open to all artists, including students and graduates, aged 18 or over on 31 October 2006. Only work commenced after 31 October 2006 will be eligible. Deadline: 21 September. 9 The Campaign for Drawing – Job opportunity
Development Coordinator (part time) Deadline: 31 August. The successful candidate will be responsible for marketing and supporting the Campaign's new professional development programme, and maximising the charity's income. Candidates must demonstrate experience of primary/secondary/museum/gallery or heritage education, plus financial management and fundraising.
Initiated in 2000, the Campaign's aim has been to increase understanding of drawing's importance as a medium for thinking, inventing, communicating and taking action.
